Judge Sallie Kim
Judge Kim is a federal magistrate judge for the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, sitting in San Francisco. Judge Kim graduated from Princeton University in 1986 with an A.B. in the Woodrow Wilson School, cum laude. Judge Kim also graduated from Stanford Law School in 1989, and while at Stanford Law School, she was the Chair of the Asian Law Students Association (now known as Asian Pacific Islander Law Students Association) and as a member of the Stanford Law Review. Judge Kim won the prize for Best Team of Advocates in the Kirkwood Moot Court Competition at Stanford Law School in 1989.
Judge Kim was a law clerk for the Hon. Spencer Williams, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, and then worked in private practice in the Silicon Valley. Judge Kim then became the Assistant and then Associate Dean for Student Affairs at Stanford Law School. Judge Kim then returned to private practice and also spent a 14-week stint as a full-time Volunteer Deputy District Attorney for the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office before joining the bench.
