Leading experts from industry, legal practice and academia will address current issues facing the industry and offer practical solutions for dealing with the many legal uncertainties that arise when doing business online. The program will feature a roundtable of general counsel from leading e-commerce companies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CALIFORNIA LEGAL EDUCATION CREDIT<\/strong>: The State Bar of California has approved this program for MCLE credit. Certification from other states may be sought; however, approved hours may vary. Contact your local bar for more information.<\/p>\n<h3>PROGRAM DIRECTORS<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Mark Lemley<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>William H. Neukom Professor of Law, Stanford Law School; Director, Program in Law, Science &amp; Technology<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Mark Lemley is the William H. Neukom Professor of Law at Stanford Law School and the Director of the Stanford Program in Law, Science &amp; Technology. He teaches intellectual property, computer and internet law, patent law, trademark law, antitrust, and remedies. He is the author of seven books (all in multiple editions) and 162 articles on these and related subjects, including the two-volume treatise IP and Antitrust. His works have been cited more than 245 times by courts, including 13 times by the United States Supreme Court, and more than 14,000 times in books and law review articles, making him the most cited scholar in IP law and one of the most cited legal scholars of all time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ian C. Ballon<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Shareholder, Greenberg Traurig; Executive Director, Stanford Center for E-Commerce<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Ian Ballon is an intellectual property and Internet litigator who is the Co-Chair of Greenberg Traurig LLP\u2019s Global Intellectual Property &amp; Technology Practice Group. He represents clients in copyright, DMCA, trademark, trade secret, right of publicity, privacy, security, software, database and Internet- and mobile-related disputes and in the defense of data privacy, security breach, behavioral advertising, TCPA and other Internet-related class action suits. He has broad legal experience in a number of industries, including Financial Services, Technology, Communications and Energy. Prior to EM Capital Management, LLC, Bill was General Counsel of Silver Oak Partners, LLC, and also served as Vice President &amp; General Counsel of Active Technologies, Inc. Before that he was the Director of Legal Affairs for Beyond.com, and Corporate Counsel for the Pacific, Gas &amp; Electric Co.(\u201cPG&amp;E\u201d).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Roland Vogl<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Executive Director, CodeX &#8211; the Stanford Center for Legal Informatics; Executive Director, Stanford Program in Law, Science &amp; Technology<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Roland Vogl is a lawyer, scholar and media entrepreneur who, after nearly fifteen years of professional and academic experience, has developed a strong expertise in intellectual property and media law, innovation, and legal informatics. Currently, he is Executive Director of the Stanford Program in Law, Science &amp;\u00a0 Technology (LST). He focuses his efforts on legal informatics work carried out in the Center for Legal Informatics (CodeX), which he co-founded and leads as Executive Director. Also, he researches international technology law through the Transatlantic Technology Law Forum (TTLF), a think-tank dedicated to transatlantic tech law and policy issues.<\/p>\n<p>The State Bar of California has approved this program for MCLE credit.
