Deputy General Counsel and VP of IP, Meta Platforms

Allen is Deputy GC and VP of IP at Meta Platforms, where he leads a team responsible for protecting and enforcing Meta’s IP rights and managing IP risks globally. During his time at Meta, he has also led the Product Legal, Reality Labs Legal, and Legal Operations teams. He leads Meta Legal’s DEI Steering Committee and started the API affinity group for Meta’s legal department, which now counts over 400 members.

Before joining Meta in 2017, he served as Deputy GC for Patents and IP Litigation at Google for six years, during which time he led Google’s efforts to defend Android through the smartphone patent wars and integrated the acquisition of Motorola’s IP team and patent portfolio. Before Google, he served as Deputy GC at Juniper Networks for 12 years as well as worked in private practice and government. He has received numerous recognitions for his accomplishments in the IP profession, including being ranked #1 most influential driver of the global IP market by IAM in 2015.
