SHEIN is a leading global fashion and lifestyle retailer and marketplace with operations in Los Angeles, Singapore and Guangzhou, along with other key markets. SHEIN reaches consumers in over 150 countries, and on any given day, has over a million product listings on its website and mobile app. Valerie joined SHEIN in 2021 and was tasked with building its global legal and compliance infrastructure. At SHEIN, Valerie is responsible for things legal and non-legal, including advising the company on key strategic initiatives and risk mitigation plans, as well as building key compliance functions. Valerie comes from an intellectual property and litigation background. She was a long-time shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Los Angeles office, where she counseled clients on a variety of IP, licensing and technology issues and represented clients in federal court litigations involving patent, copyright, trademark, and platform liability disputes. Prior to joining SHEIN in-house, Valerie was SHEIN’s primary U.S. outside counsel. Valerie spent her early associate years at Orrick Los Angeles and Silicon Valley, where she practiced intellectual property litigation. Valerie lives in Los Angeles with her family, including two adorable and super annoying dogs named Ghost and Jackson.
