OVERVIEW
Presented by the Stanford Program in Law, Science & Technology, its Center for the Digital Economy, and the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC). The Stanford Digital Economy Best Practices Conference is the premier educational event for in-house counsel and practitioners who work in or for Internet, e-commerce, mobile, social networking, and cloud companies. Leading experts from industry, legal practice, and academia will address current issues facing the industry and offer practical solutions for dealing with the many legal uncertainties that arise when doing business online. The program will feature a roundtable of general counsel from leading e-commerce companies.
PROGRAM DIRECTORS
Mark Lemley, BA ’88 William H. Neukom Professor of Law, Stanford Law School; Director, Program in Law, Science & Technology Mark Lemley is the William H. Neukom Professor of Law at Stanford Law School and the Director of the Stanford Program in Law, Science & Technology. He teaches intellectual property, computer and internet law, patent law, trademark law, antitrust, and remedies. He is the author of seven books (all in multiple editions) and 162 articles on these and related subjects, including the two-volume treatise IP and Antitrust. His works have been cited more than 245 times by courts, including 13 times by the United States Supreme Court, and more than 14,000 times in books and law review articles, making him the most cited scholar in IP law and one of the most cited legal scholars of all time.
Ian C. Ballon Shareholder, Greenberg Traurig; Executive Director, Stanford Center for E-Commerce Ian Ballon is an intellectual property and Internet litigator who is the Co-Chair of Greenberg Traurig LLP’s Global Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group. He represents clients in copyright, DMCA, trademark, trade secret, right of publicity, privacy, security, software, database, and Internet- and mobile-related disputes and in the defense of data privacy, security breach, behavioral advertising, TCPA, and other Internet-related class-action suits. Bill Cosden Executive Consultant, B. Riley Advisory Services (formerly GlassRatner); Co-Founder of the Stanford Digital Economy Best Practices Conference Bill is an Executive Consultant with B. Riley Advisory Services, a B. Riley Financial Company. He has broad legal experience across a number of industries, including Financial Services, Technology, Communications and Energy. And has served as the General Counsel to EM Capital Management, LLC and Silver Oak Partners, LLC. Prior to those positions, he was the Director of Legal Affairs at Beyond.com, and Corporate Counsel for the Pacific, Gas & Electric Co.(“PG&E”).
Roland Vogl, JSM ’00 Executive Director, CodeX – the Stanford Center for Legal Informatics; Executive Director, Stanford Program in Law, Science & Technology Dr. Roland Vogl is a lawyer, scholar, and media entrepreneur who, after nearly fifteen years of professional and academic experience, has developed a strong expertise in intellectual property and media law, innovation, and legal informatics. Currently, he is Executive Director of the Stanford Program in Law, Science & Technology (LST). He focuses his efforts on legal informatics work carried out in the Center for Legal Informatics (CodeX), which he co-founded and leads as Executive Director. Also, he researches international technology law through the Transatlantic Technology Law Forum (TTLF), a think-tank dedicated to transatlantic tech law and policy issues.
