Biography
Priya Sanger is Senior Director, Associate General Counsel of Product, Regulatory, & Regulatory Affairs at Oakland-based Marqeta (NASDAQ MQ). Marqeta is the world’s first modern card issuing program enabling businesses to offer payment card products to customers without having to deal directly with a traditional bank.
Representing Marqeta, Priya also serves as a Director on the Board of the Financial Technology Association headquartered in Washington D.C., and serves as a Co-Chair of the newly-formed Deputy GC Fintech Group at TechGC, promoting frank conversations among in-house counsel on how best to foster responsible innovation.
Priya previously worked at fintech Chime, as the Head of Product & Payments, and at creator payments startup Patreon, where she was Deputy GC for Product, Payments, Privacy, and International and helped expand Patreon’s product and payments reach domestically and internationally into strategic EU Markets.
Priya also worked for 5 years as a product and payments lawyer at Google, helping develop payments solutions across Google entities and properties. She started her in-house law experience at Wells Fargo, as a Strategy and Operational Risk regulatory lawyer (among other legal roles).
As a former President of the Bar Association of San Francisco while at Wells Fargo, she created the in-house counsel initiative to help in-house lawyers work with outside counsel to connect with the Bar Association’s pro bono programs. She also focused on the judicial funding crisis to improve access to justice.
