Biography
Tod Cohen is a Partner at Steptoe LLP, specializing in AI, Data and Digital Law. He is recognized as one of the technology industry’s foremost leaders on internet law and policy. With over two decades of experience in-house with some of the world’s best-known internet and e-commerce companies, Tod has expertise in critical evolving issues in data protection, intellectual property, artificial intelligence, payments, antitrust and competition law, and content moderation.
Tod previously served as the Deputy General Counsel at Twitter, where he was responsible for global legal policy, data protection, litigation, content moderation, employment law, and human rights. Before Twitter, Tod was General Counsel of StubHub, directing the company’s legal and public policy team overseeing ticket resale law, payments regulation, mergers and acquisitions, and antitrust law. He also served as Deputy General Counsel of eBay, responsible for global public policy for eBay, PayPal, and Skype.
Tod has been a leader and participant in government and industry coalitions, including the US Department of Commerce’s Expert Working Group on Electronic Commerce; ICANN; the EU’s Stakeholder Dialogue on Copyright Infringement; the World Customs Organization; the World Intellectual Property Organization; and the President’s Advisory Council on Wildlife Trafficking. He has served as a Visiting Professor at King’s College and is a long-time member of the Board of Directors of the Congressional Internet Education Foundation.
