Biography

Andrew advises technology, Web3, consumer tech, gaming and media companies, financial institutions, and others on a variety of issues relating to intellectual property and commercial law across diverse industries including blockchain, digital media and interactive entertainment, gaming, fintech, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, B2B SaaS, space tech, and edtech. Having worked with many of the world’s most exciting companies at all stages of their growth on their most complicated and exciting legal and business matters, Andrew’s work has shaped the blockchain industry and specifically the Los Angeles tech ecosystem.

Andrew is an experienced collaborator, helping clients realize their goals by leading complex strategic alliances, joint ventures, and other “partnering” arrangements. Clients lean on Andrew to help them develop, protect, and monetize IP, and design creative and forward-thinking strategies to manage technology, IP, and commercial issues in financing, M&A, and other corporate transactions. His experience negotiating commercial agreements, including licensing, NFT collaborations, technology sourcing, blockchain network, manufacturing and supply, channel partnership, and marketing agreements allows him to put his clients’ needs first with a view toward growth and innovation. At the core of his practice, Andrew helps clients navigate the inevitable legal and regulatory gray areas that emerge as they innovate, disrupt, and push their industries forward into new and novel frontiers.

When FinCEN updated its anti-money laundering Travel Rule to include virtual asset services providers, Fenwick client Coinbase was one of many that needed to find a way to comply. It relied on Andrew to advise on the creation, development, and global rollout strategy of Travel Rule Universal Solution Technology (TRUST), a consortium of over 90 virtual asset services providers led by Coinbase and other prominent digital asset exchanges and an industry-driven solution designed to assist TRUST members in complying with the Travel Rule.
