Biography

Art is a member of Butler Snow, LLP in Ridgeland, Mississippi, where he belongs to the Tort, Transportation & Specialized Litigation Group. He serves as the coordinator for the firm’s Trucking Group, 24-Hour Accident Investigation Team, and Autonomous Vehicle Technology Group. With over 30 years of experience in transportation law, trucking defense, automotive law, recreational vehicle/warranty law, and product liability law, Art brings a wealth of expertise to the team.

He is an active member of the Transportation Lawyers Association (TLA), Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA), and the Defense Research Institute’s (DRI) Trucking Committee. Art has served as Chair of The Harmonie Group Transportation Committee, and currently serves as a Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association’s Commercial Ground Transportation Committee. As a frequent author and speaker for national trucking organizations, Art covers topics ranging from trucking defense and technology to autonomous and electric vehicles.

Art holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and his work has been recognized by both The Best Lawyers in America® and Mid-South Super Lawyers®. He obtained his undergraduate degree (B.Accy) and J.D. from the University of Mississippi and are admitted to The Mississippi Bar, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Sixth Circuits, the U.S. Supreme Court, and have appeared pro hac vice on behalf of clients in approximately 20 states.

Art is an Executive Board member of the Andrew Jackson Council of the Boy Scouts of America, where he serves as the Eagle Scout Scholarship Coordinator. He is also a Board member of the Mississippi Museum of Art. Art and his wife Liz are the busy parents of three teenage boys.
