Ryan Alexander

Biography

Ryan Alexander is a Senior Fellow at the Data Foundation, where she is leading the launch of the Climate Data Collaborative. Over the course of her career, Ryan has worked as an advocate, executive, grantmaker, and litigating attorney on issues including voter participation and political reform, climate, energy, and conservation policy, budget and tax policy, civil rights, and institutional accountability. In 2020 she established Hyphen Strategies where she advises foundations and donors on collaborative grantmaking strategies and coalition campaigns.

Previously, Ryan served as President of Taxpayers for Common Sense for 13 years as well executive director of the Common Cause Education Fund and Program Officer for the Rockefeller Family Fund. She sits on the boards of directors of the Fund for Constitutional Government, the Project on Government Oversight, and is the co-founder and chair of Appalachian Mountain Advocates, the organization responsible for curtailing mountaintop removal coal mining in the US.
