Biography
Annastiina Kallius is a postdoctoral fellow in social anthropology at the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies. She holds a BA degree in politics and development studies from SOAS, University of London (2010), and an MA degree in sociology and social anthropology from Central European University, Budapest (2014). She received her PhD in anthropology at the University of Helsinki in 2023. Her ethnographic dissertation traced how the entrenchment of the illiberal regime in Hungary in the 2010s caused the country’s liberal community to become a minority in both political and epistemic terms. Her current postdoctoral project explores the international connections and the intellectual history of illiberal political philosophy.
