Ms. Weiss is a leading securities and complex litigation advocate with over 40 years’ experience representing corporate and individual clients in a wide spectrum of complex litigation. She has successfully represented well over 200 directors and officers of public companies in class action and derivative shareholder litigation and government proceedings involving the securities laws, fiduciary duty claims and claims under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Ms. Weiss has served as lead counsel in numerous closely watched class action and derivative securities litigations and has had many victories in key cases at the early ‘motion to dismiss’ stage. She recently obtained the rare victory of defeating class certification of a securities class action filed in the Northern District of California.
Ms. Weiss has extensive experience advising Boards of Directors and Audit and Special Committees in: crisis management, internal investigations, insider trading compliance, corporate governance and directors’ and officers’ insurance protection.
Ms. Weiss also represents corporate clients in defending consumer class actions and proceedings brought by state Attorneys General based on California and New York consumer laws.

Ms. Weiss is a co-founder of the Inn of Court chapter named for the Honorable J. Clifford Wallace and a founder of Association of Business Trial Lawyers, San Diego chapter. She has served for two terms as delegate to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals from the Southern District of California. She also has served on DLA Piper’s US Executive Committee.
Ms. Weiss divides her time between DLA Piper’s Silicon Valley and San Diego offices.
