It’s a new world at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Corporate directors are interested in and concerned about the direction in which the agency might be headed. This plenary session, featuring SEC Commissioner and former Acting Chairman Mark Uyeda, will provide detailed, timely, and pragmatic guidance to directors wrestling with the implications of unprecedented change. The conversation will span the possibility of fundamental reform of the shareholder proxy process, new priorities for the Enforcement Division, implications of staffing and budget cuts, reducing regulatory burden by eliminating multiple disclosure and compliance requirements, the future of the Public Company Audit Oversight Board, and making public markets more hospitable to public listings, as the number of publicly traded firms continues to shrink.
