Biography
Melina Higgins serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of three companies, including two Fortune 500 companies. She is a Retired Partner of Goldman Sachs, where she worked for nearly two decades. Melina is Chair of Genworth Financial, an insurance and long-term care services company, where she serves on the Audit and Management Development & Compensation Committees. She is Chair of Viatris, a global pharmaceutical company, where she is Chair of the Finance and Executive Committees. She is also Chair of Antares, a leading private credit manager owned by CPP Investments. Melina has significant board experience, having served on over a dozen company boards and on a wide variety of committees, including audit, compensation, executive, finance, governance, risk, and strategy.
Melina joined Goldman Sachs in 1989 and retired as a Partner of the firm in 2010. She was Head of the Americas for Private Debt and a key architect in building one of the largest global private credit businesses. Melina was a Member of the Investment Committee that approved and oversaw private equity and debt investments for Goldman Sachs’ Principal Investment Area, one of the world’s leading alternative asset managers. U.S. Banker ranked her as one of the Top 20 Nonbank Women in Finance
Melina has extensive experience with complex business, financial, and governance issues, including corporate strategy, business transformation, risk, talent management and compensation, shareholder engagement, acquisitions, divestitures, and equity and debt financings. She also has broad international experience, having worked on transactions and served on the boards of companies with operations in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and North and South America.
Melina holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. from Colgate University in Economics and Spanish. She is a member of the Women’s Leadership Board at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
