Managing Director for Information, O’Melveny & Myers LLP
Jeffrey Scott Rovner is the Managing Director for Information at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, a global law firm comprised of 15 offices and about 800 attorneys. From his office in Newport Beach, he directs the firm’s information functions, including technology, knowledge management, library, and records.
In 1996, Jeff created what may have been the first formal knowledge management function inside a law firm. Since then, his specialty has been the artful application of technology to the practice of law. One of his recent software applications at O’Melveny – called OMMLit – received first-place innovation awards from the Financial Times, The Recorder, and London’s Legal Week.
In addition to his work at O’Melveny, Jeff is an Adjunct Professor in George Washington University’s Master’s Program in Law Firm Management, where, for the past eight years, he has taught a course in information technology and knowledge management. He is a Fellow and member of the Board of Trustees of the College of Law Practice Management, and a member of the Lexis-Nexis CIO Advisory Board.
Prior to joining O’Melveny, Jeff was the Director of Knowledge Management at Clifford Chance US and Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison. Before that, Mr. Rovner practiced law for fourteen years, six of them as a partner at Morrison & Foerster. He received his law degree from George Washington University, and his B.S. in Zoology from the University of Maryland at College Park.
