Biography
Rawan Dareer is the Executive Director of Hakimu which is building the first AI empowered pan-African legal search engine that aggregates case law from across the continent. Hakimu leverages AI to easily identify the most relevant cases using the latest in multilingual text embedding, sort through cases quickly through intelligent summaries, and engage with information through a highly accurate chat box.
Following her clerkship for the Chief Justice of the Rwandan Supreme Court, Rawan was given full access to conduct 75+ interviews across the Rwandan Justice Sector where judges and lawyers indicate Hakimu will cut back on 75% of their workload. By scaling their impact across Supreme Courts on the continent, Rawan and her mission driven team seek to build critical legal infrastructure across that reduces the impact where you’re born has on the trajectory of your life.
Rawan is a Knight Hennessy Scholar and JD candidate at Stanford Law School, has an MSc from the University of Oxford, and a B.A. from NYU Abu Dhabi.
