Anisur Rahman

Md Anisur Rahman is a legal historian. Mr. Rahman’s primary research interests lie in the intellectual history of law and include legal transplantation in South and Southeast Asia. By reconstructing the history of how colonial and postcolonial legal process began to redefine and reconfigure elements of a Muslim marriage, Mr. Rahman’s Ph.D. dissertation contributes to a broader conversation on Islamic law and modernity in South Asia, which has recently been awarded a Ph.D. by the National University of Singapore (NUS). Being a lawyer, he is also active in socio-legal studies. He has presented his research at the International Meeting of Law and Society several times, including the LSA 2020 (virtual meeting). Currently, he teaches at the Asian University for Women.
