Chief Legal Officer, Discord
Clint Smith is the Chief Legal Officer of Discord. Since joining the company in 2020, he has been the company executive responsible for Law, Policy, Safety, and Security. Since 2021, Clint has served on the board of directors of the Digital Trust & Safety Partnership, a cross-industry group that develops best practices for online safety. Clint is a frequent speaker on how online platforms can perform effective content moderation and promote online safety.
Clint began his career at the law firm Steptoe & Johnson LLP in Washington DC, and has since held leadership positions with various tech companies as well as national trade associations including the Business Software Alliance and the U.S. Internet Service Provider Association. He is a regular speaker on technology law and policy topics. Smith received his bachelor’s degree from Pomona College in Claremont, California, and his master’s degree and J.D. from UC Berkeley.
