Sonali Maitra

Biography

After clerking for now-Chief Judge Sidney Thomas on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Sonali began practicing at the litigation boutique Keker & Van Nest, litigating a variety of IP disputes.  She later became Partner at the San Francisco litigation boutique Durie Tangri LLP.  Her practice involved all nature of IP disputes—including patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, privacy—and she represented some of the leading tech companies in the world, including Google, Amazon, and Apple.  She also litigated on behalf of, and advised, a number of video game companies including Zynga, Peak Games, 6Waves, and LOLApps.  She has lectured and written in the area of video game law, and is delighted to co-teach Video Game Law with Professor Mark Lemley, William H. Neukon Professor of Law here at Stanford Law School.

Sonali is consistently ranked as among the top IP litigation practitioners in the country.  She has been named one of the top 10 intellectual property attorneys under the age of 40 in the nation by Law360, one of the Top Women Lawyers in California by the Daily Journal, one of the Top Women in Tech Law by The Recorder, and ranked by IAM Patent 1000 as one of the top patent litigation practitioners in the country.

Sonali earned her JD from Columbia Law School in 2006, and a BA in Economics from Stanford University in 2000.
