Zvika Krieger
Zvika Krieger co-leads the World Economic Forum’s Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in San Francisco. He served as the U.S. Department of State’s first-ever Representative to Silicon Valley and Senior Advisor for Technology and Innovation, working with the tech sector on tackling global challenges and leading State Department policy and strategy formulation on emerging technology.
He previously created and led the State Department’s innovation lab in Washington DC. At the Department of Defense, he served as a senior advisor to then-Deputy Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter, as well as a Senior Strategist in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, where his portfolios included climate change, Middle East strategy, innovation, and emerging technology.
Before joining government, he led the relaunch of the Center for Middle East Peace and served as Senior Vice President. He spent almost a decade as a journalist, including as a foreign policy correspondent at The Atlantic, editor and writer at The New Republic, and Middle East correspondent for Newsweek based in Egypt and Lebanon and covering most of the Arab world.
He attended Yale University (Political Science) and the American University in Cairo (Arabic Language), and has taught courses on technology, design, policy, and global challenges at Stanford, UC Berkeley, and the Rhode Island School of Design.
