Daniel Changxiao Sun ‘25

Biography

Daniel Sun is a junior double majoring in Physics and Mathematics, with a coterminal master’s in Applied and Engineering Physics and a minor in Music. He is broadly interested in studying theoretical physics and plans to pursue a Ph.D. in physics after undergrad. He is currently particularly interested in quantum computing and quantum information.

Outside of the STEM field, Daniel plays flute and piccolo with Stanford Symphony Orchestra, Stanford Flute Ensemble, and his wind “Kuartet.” He has been playing flute for 9 years and piano for 16 years, and is currently studying flute with Melody Holmes. He was one of the winners of the 2023 Stanford Concerto Competition. He has played in the Stanford Philharmonia, Stanford Summer Symphony, Stanford Collaborative Orchestra, as well as the pit orchestras of Le nozze di Figaro (‘22), Gaieties (‘22), Company (‘23), Die Fledermaus (‘23), and Mary Poppins (‘24).

In his free time, Daniel enjoys browsing the physics and math StackExchanges, posting videos on his YouTube channel, solving puzzles, playing video games, eating spicy food, and spending time in cold weather.
