Prof. Timo Minssen

Biography

Timo Minssen is Professor of Law at the University of Copenhagen (UCPH) and the Founder and Managing Director of UCPH’s Center for Advanced Studies in Biomedical Innovation Law (CeBIL). He is also affiliated with the Centre for Law, Medicine and Life Sciences (LML) at the University of Cambridge , where he collaborates – inter alia – on studies of IP and regulatory aspects in quantum technology. Moreover, he advises clients on as a senior advisor at X-officio Advokat AB.

His research concentrates on Intellectual Property-, Competition & Regulatory Law with a special focus on emerging technologies and their applications to tackle pressing problems in the health & life science sectors. At UCPH he leads large interdisciplinary research projects with the University of Cambridge, the University of Michigan, Harvard Law School and Harvard Medical School which examine legal issues in digital health, AMR, artificial intelligence, precision medicine, biologics/biosimilars, orphan drugs and new uses. He is i.a. the Chair of the International Network for AMR Social Science (INAMRSS), scientific advisory board member of the Copenhagen Centre for Regulatory Sciences, and steering committee member of the Danish Association for the Protection of Industrial Property. Timo has also served as an advisor to the EU Commission, the WHO, and to the WIPO regarding studies of the pharmaceutical sector, digital health, open science and COVID-19 responses.
