Biography
Mr. Konstantine Vardzelashvili currently serves as the Head of ODIHR’s Democratization Department, which supports the OSCE participating States, among other, to develop inclusive, transparent, rule of law and human rights compliant democratic institutions, to enhance compliance of their laws and policies with the OSCE’s Human Dimension Commitments and obligations under international law.
He is also a Professor of the School of Law of Ilia State University (Tbilisi, Georgia).
Previously he severed as: the Vice-President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia (2006-2016); a Vice Chair (2014-2016) and member of the United Nations Human Rights Committee (2012-2016); substitute member of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe (2007-2014); Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia (2004-2006). Between 1998 – 20024 he worked with leading civil society organizations, was involved in civic activism and advocacy in Georgia.
Konstantine has over 25 years of experience of working in the fields of good governance and public integrity, rule of law and administration of justice, constitutional and international human rights law, institutional reform and capacity building.
