Bonnie Docherty is a senior researcher in the Arms Division of Human Rights Watch. She is also a lecturer on law and the associate director of armed conflict and civilian protection at Harvard Law School’s International Human Rights Clinic. An expert in disarmament and international humanitarian law, Docherty has done extensive field research on the civilian effects of war and worked on the negotiation and implementation of multiple treaties, including those banning nuclear weapons and cluster munitions. In recent years, Docherty has been at the forefront of the movement to ban fully autonomous weapons and has published widely on the topic. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her A.B. from Harvard University.
