Hon. John Cannon Few

Biography

John Cannon Few is a Justice on the Supreme Court of South Carolina and chairs the South Carolina Access to Justice Commission.  He previously served as the Chief Judge of the South Carolina Court of Appeals and a trial judge on the Circuit Court of South Carolina.  Justice Few attended college at Duke University—where he served as Duke’s athletic mascot, the Blue Devil, during his junior year—and law school at the University of South Carolina School of Law.  A seasoned public speaker, he received first place in the American Bar Association’s nationwide Edward R. Finch Law Day speech competition for his speech, “Citizen Participation in the Legal System,” and has delivered his “The Courage of a Lawyer” speech to lawyers’ groups across the country.  He has also taught at the National Judicial College, the Charleston School of Law, and the University of South Carolina School of Law.
