This panel seeks to expose the underlying human rights violations that underlie the country’s national security apparatus. From entrapment of young Muslim men who remain trapped in prison, convictions of community uncles for sending humanitarian aid overseas under the Anti-Terrorism Material Support statute, Guantanamo Bay, to surveillance programs monitoring Brown and Black youth — the US government has engaged in various human rights violations after the War on Terror. Unfortunately, most remain oblivious to the extent of wrongs and the way in which the law has been operationalized to curb the rights of Muslim and Arab/South Asian communities.

This event is co-sponsored by the Muslim Law Students Association.
