Gregory Castanias

Biography

Greg Castanias, head of Jones Day’s Federal Circuit team, has more than 30 years of experience as a leading appellate and intellectual property litigator. Resident in the Firm’s Washington, DC office, his experience includes five Supreme Court arguments, including the Myriad Genetics and SAS Institute patent cases, well over 100 Federal Circuit arguments, and countless others in federal and state courts from Alaska to Connecticut. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers and a member of the American Law Institute.  He is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Indiana University’s Maurer School of Law, where he teaches Appellate Practice and Procedure and Federal Circuit Advocacy.  Greg is also the lead author of Federal Appellate Practice and Procedure (West Publishing; 3d edition 2023).
