Biography
Masoud Jasbi is an Assistant Professor of Linguistics and Cognitive Science at the University of California, Davis, where he directs the Logic, Language, & Learning Lab. His research focuses on the semantics and acquisition of function words—high-frequency grammatical elements like “the,” “and,” “or,” and “not” that encode abstract logical meanings such as negation, disjunction, quantification, and determinacy. He combines methods from formal semantics, experimental psycholinguistics, and computational linguistics to investigate how children learn these abstract meanings and what they reveal about the primitives of human thought.
