Biography
L. Scott Sherman is a criminal defense attorney in private practice based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mr. Sherman started his career in 2006 with the Orleans Public Defenders. There he served as Staff and Supervising Attorney and was lead counsel in cases ranging from second degree murder to possession of marijuana. In 2015, he moved to California and joined the San Mateo County Private Defender Program (“PDP”) as a panel attorney and maintained a private practice. On behalf of the PDP, he represented clients in cases ranging from DUI’s to capital murder. From March of 2020 until January of 2024, Mr. Sherman was the Managing Attorney for the Adult Division of the PDP. At the PDP he was responsible for training and recruiting attorneys, assigning cases to PDP attorneys, and assisting PDP clients and the public with court issues. He has tried over 60 felony jury trials in his career so far, and is looking forward to more. Mr. Sherman is licensed in California, Louisiana, New York, and Washington D.C. He pays a lot of money to cover his bar dues each year, and received his JD from Tulane Law School.
