Rebecca Kahan

Biography

Rebecca Kahan is the Supervising Attorney for the Research (Law and Motion) Team at the Office of the Santa Clara County Public Defender. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Biology and from the Northwestern University School of Law, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. After law school, she clerked at the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and then started her legal career in civil and appellate litigation. Her public defense journey began at the Contra Costa County Office of the Public Defender. At Santa Clara, she has served on the homicide, felony, and mental health trial teams, developing a deep appreciation for complex litigation in all forms.  Her practice is grounded in compassion and creativity.
