Biography
Originally from Tennessee, Hayley E. Dewey began her career in indigent defense in 2011 with the appellate division of the Leon County Public Defender in Tallahassee, Florida. Upon relocating to California, Hayley defended clients in private practice and as a deputy public defender in El Dorado and Nevada Counties for over twelve years. She has extensive experience representing clients in all types of criminal cases, including the most serious felonies, juvenile adjudications, post-conviction litigation, and appeals. She has also represented clients in federal court in the Eastern District of California.
Hayley is a proud graduate of Gideon’s Promise CORE program, which shifted her outlook on public defense through the power of dynamic, client-centered training and an accessible faculty.
Hayley is honored to use her skills, values, and experience to train and support defenders in the relentless pursuit of client-centered legal excellence.
