Biography
Ray Ibarra is a Deputy State Public Defender, serving in the Indigent Defense Improvement Division of California’s Office of the State Public Defender as a training attorney. Prior to this role, he led two different offices in Kentucky’s state public defense system, including the new attorney training unit of its Education Division. Within California he has been a public defender in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara Counties, but he has also served that role in Montgomery County, Maryland. Graduating from Georgetown Law in 2009, his sixteen years as a public defender across the country include representation of adults and children at all stages of prosecution. In addition to being a proud member of the Gideon’s Promise class of 2011, Ray serves on faculty in that program, as well as various other trial skills programs.
