Jasper Burns

Biography

Jasper Burns is the Co-Chair of the Stanford Federalist Society Symposium on Law & AI.

He is a JD/MBA candidate at Stanford and a Knight-Hennessy Scholar, a merit-based full-ride global leadership graduate scholarship. Additionally, he is a Threshold Venture Fellow with Stanford Technology Ventures Program. He also actively volunteers with veterans making the transition to graduate school, and is the incoming Director of the JD Program at the non-profit Service to School. He is currently building a tech startup, supported by StartX, Stanford Venture Studio, and GSB’s Startup Garage.

Jasper previously served 8-years active duty in the U.S. Navy flying EA-18G Growler jetfighters, a variant of the F/A-18 Super Hornet upgraded for electronic attack. In flight school, he was the Top Graduate of his class. Following his deployment aboard the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier to the South China Sea, he reported to Washington, D.C. to work as an aviator supporting the intelligence community and as a White House Social Aide. In that role, he assisted with social duties and protocol for state dinners, congressional balls, national awards, and more. He personally escorted Heads of State, and designed for posterity the Seal of the White House Military Social Aide, now in the presidential record. He finished his tenure in the Navy as a Military Fellow at McKinsey & Company, primarily working in the Private Equity practice group.

Jasper graduated from Boston University with a double major in Computer Science and Economics. He was selected as a White House Intern in the Office of Presidential Personnel’s National Security Team. In college, he had additional experience studying Chinese, with immersion and intensive language classes in Shanghai, China. He was an active participant in BU’s Model UN Travel Team and has both competed in and directed committees. He and his partner won the largest committee at WorldMUN in Rome.
