Kirti Datla

Biography

Kirti Datla is the Director of Earthjustice’s Strategic Legal Advocacy Program. Along with her five other team members, she leads Earthjustice’s efforts to anticipate and shape the doctrines that affect all environmental cases, such as justiciability, review of agency actions, and constitutional doctrines about federal power. The team’s collaborative work spans Earthjustice’s own cases and also cases litigated by other environmental or regulatory litigation groups that implicate these issues, with a focus on cases that are likely to or have reached the U.S. Supreme Court. Before joining Earthjustice, Kirti spent over three years in the Supreme Court and Appellate practice group at Hogan Lovells, and she also served in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel. Kirti served as a law clerk at all levels of the federal judiciary, including for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
