Bertrall Ross

Biography

Bertrall Ross is a Professor of Law and co-director of the Edley Center on Law and Democracy at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. Ross’ research addresses concerns around democratic responsiveness and accountability, as well as the exclusion of marginalized communities in administrative and political processes. He has written over thirty articles, book chapters, and reviews. Two of his articles were selected by the Yale/Harvard/Stanford Junior Faculty Forum. Ross is a co-author on two forthcoming books: The New Voter Suppression (with Douglas Spencer) and Our Illegitimate Constitution (with Joy Milligan).

Ross has been awarded the Steven M. Polan Fellowship in the Constitutional Law and History, the Berlin Prize from the American Academy in Berlin, the Princeton University Law and Public Affairs Fellowship, the Columbia Law School Kellis Parker Academic Fellowship, and the Marshall Scholarship. Ross is currently serving on the Administrative Conference of the United States and previously served on President Joseph Biden’s Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States. He holds a J.D. from Yale Law School, an M.P.A. from Princeton, an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics, and a B.A. from the University of Colorado.
