Marissa Román Griffith

Marissa Román Griffith is a Partner based in the Los Angeles office of Akin Gump. Marissa represents financiers, borrowers, distributors and studios involved in various aspects of the production, financing and distribution of film, television and digital content, including negative pick-ups, credit facilities, slate co-financing agreements, distribution agreements, domestic and foreign tax incentives and co-financing arrangements in various countries throughout the world.

Marissa has received numerous recognitions for her practice, including being named to The Hollywood Reporter’s 2018 and 2017 list of “Top 100 Power Lawyers” and its list of “Hollywood’s Top 20 Dealmakers of 2016”, Variety’s annual “Legal Impact Report” (she has been recognized each year since 2013) and its annual “Dealmakers Impact Report” (she has been recognized 5 of the last 6 years), Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2018 list of “Most Influential Women Attorneys” in Los Angeles, and The Daily Journal’s 2014 list of “Top 100 Women Lawyers”.

Marissa is actively involved in diversity and inclusion efforts within her firm (sitting on Akin Gump’s firm wide Inclusion Council, and co-chairing the Los Angeles’s offices Inclusion Council). She sits on the board of Female Executives In Media & Entertainment (a non-profit supporting female advancement in the entertainment industry), the Mexican-American Bar Foundation (a non-profit enhancing diversity in the legal profession through education) and Outfest (a non-profit promoting LGBTQ equality by creating, sharing and protecting LGBTQ stories on screen). She has acted as the Secretary of the Stanford Law School Class of 1993 since graduation.
