Dave Green

Dave Green is Assistant General Counsel in Microsoft’s IP Policy Group. He counsels Microsoft on global copyright and trade secret matters, including related policy positions, and on complex IP issues that impact a wide range of Microsoft’s products and online services including Windows, Xbox, Bing, Surface, Azure, and Office 365 products and services. He joined Microsoft in 2008. Previously, Dave was Asst. General Counsel to Bill Gate’s privately-owned Corbis Corporation, shaping its intellectual property portfolio and strategy, counseling on a wide variety of business and legal affairs, and helping Corbis launch new business divisions to better exploit its IP assets. He began his legal career as Assistant Attorney General in Washington state, advising the University of Washington on complex technology transfer, IP, and business issues.

Dave has taught IP Management at the University of Washington, serves as lecturer and advisor for its Business Development Certificate program, is a past trustee of The Copyright Society and the ABA Committee on New Media and Innovation, and is currently on the ABA’s Trade Secret Practices Committee.

Outside of work, Dave has combined his IP and business passions to launch several successful companies focused on entertainment and related IP licensing including McQueen Racing LLC and Zero Point Ventures LLC, and is executive producer on several critically acclaimed films, including I AM STEVE MCQUEEN (Spike TV) and “The Man and Le Mans” (which was chosen to screen at the prestigious Cannes Classic festival in 2015).
