Monica is Counsel at Protocol Labs, Inc, an open-source R&D lab building protocols, tools, and services to improve the Internet.  At Protocol Labs, Monica is responsible for policy, privacy, and intellectual property issues.  She is passionate about emerging technologies including blockchain, cryptocurrency, and metaverse technology.  Before joining Protocol Labs, Monica represented leading technology companies in intellectual property litigation at Ropes & Gray LLP.  She has vast experience working with technology clients in a wide range of industries including blockchain, web3, computer software, wireless systems, telecommunications, medical devices, consumer goods, and pharmaceuticals.  Monica holds a J.D. from UCLA School of Law and earned her undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering at Case Western Reserve University.
