Priya Sanger

Associate General Counsel, Head of Product & Payments, Chime Financial, Inc.

Priya Sanger is Associate General Counsel at San Francisco-based Chime and leads the Product & Payments Legal team.  

Chime is a financial technology company that is part of the “neobank” movement to provide digital-first banking platforms to customers for low-fee or no-fee services. Founded in 2013 on the idea that banking and payment services should be helpful, easy, and free, Chime makes its revenue from getting a cut of interchange fees from the use of its debit and credit builder cards, not from overdraft or other fees assessed to its customers. In February 2022, Chime was valued at between $25-40 Billion USD.

Priya previously worked at Patreon, where she was Deputy GC for Product, Payments, Privacy and International, helping creators to get paid on a recurring basis by their fans. She helped develop and lead the payments and product legal strategy for Patreon, including expanding its reach domestically and internationally into strategic markets

Priya also worked as a product and payments lawyer for Google and, before that, at Wells Fargo. 

As a former President of the Bar Association of San Francisco while at Wells Fargo, she created the in-house counsel initiative to help in-house lawyers connect with the Bar Association’s pro bono programs, while working with outside counsel. She also focused on the judicial funding crisis to improve access to justice.
