Lenin Lopez is a Senior Vice President at Woodruff Sawyer & Co., a full-service insurance brokerage firm. In this role, he advises boards and management teams on governance-related matters, with a particular focus on providing practical and business-minded advice on how to mitigate risk, including when working in highly regulated industries. 

Lenin is a popular writer and speaker on topics covering corporate governance, securities, and insurance-related matters. Topics like his series on earnings management red flags have brought him broad followership and caused him to be quoted in the Wall Street Journal.

Prior to joining Woodruff Sawyer, Lenin was Lead Counsel at Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited (TSE:4502/NYSE:TAK), a pharmaceutical company, a position he was recruited for to lead its U.S. corporate governance and securities function after Takeda’s acquisition of Shire plc (NASDAQ: SHPG). Prior to Takeda, Lenin served in legal roles of increasing responsibility at Sempra Energy (NYSE: SRE), Shire plc, Baxalta (NYSE: BXLT), and CareFusion Corporation (NYSE: CFN). 

Lenin earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara and his juris doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law.
