Abe Friedman

Abe M. Friedman is the Chief Executive Officer and a founder of CamberView Partners.

Before founding CamberView in 2012, Mr. Friedman was Managing Director and Global Head of Corporate Governance and Responsible Investment at BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager. In that role, Mr. Friedman led a team of 18 professionals operating from six offices around the globe who were responsible for making proxy voting decisions on thousands of portfolio companies annually. Prior to that role, he served in leadership positions, including Global Head of Corporate Governance, at Barclays Global Investors (BGI) from 2005 until the company merged with BlackRock in 2009.

In 2003, Mr. Friedman helped found Glass, Lewis & Co. As Chief Policy Officer and General Counsel, Mr. Friedman built and led Glass Lewis’s proxy research business from its inception and developed the voting guidelines which serve as the foundation for how the firm analyzes complex governance issues.

Mr. Friedman currently serves as co-director of the Stanford Institutional Investor Forum. The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and Directorship Magazine recognized Mr. Friedman as one of the 100 most influential leaders in corporate governance in 2012, 2015 and 2016. Mr. Friedman previously served on the SEC’s Investor Advisory Committee, a position to which he was appointed by Chairwoman Mary Shapiro. Mr. Friedman has also served as both a Council Member and Mayor of the City of Piedmont, California.

Mr. Friedman holds a J.D., a Master’s in Public Policy and a B.A., with honors, in political science from the University of California, Berkeley.
