Ethan Schutt

Chief of Staff, Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium
As ANTHC’s Chief of Staff, Ethan Schutt leads, coordinates and supports the prioritization and alignment of ANTHC resources to achieve its strategic goals and objectives, as well as assists in external communications. He has a passion for energy development, rural Alaska communities, and a host of Alaska Native issues including healthcare, education, infrastructure development and sustainability.

Prior to joining ANTHC, Mr. Schutt was the Senior Vice President of Land and Energy Development for Cook Inlet Region Inc. (CIRI). At CIRI, he led a team of professionals that managed CIRI’s ANCSA lands including the exploration and leasing of those lands for oil and gas, mineral and other natural resource development. He also directed CIRI’s efforts in developing and investing in renewable and alternative energy projects. His previous roles at CIRI include Corporate General Counsel and as an officer and director for several CIRI subsidiaries including CIRI Land Development Company and CIRI Energy, LLC. Prior to his work at CIRI, he was the general counsel for Tanana Chiefs Conference in Fairbanks. He also served on the Doyon, Limited board of directors from 2003 to 2006, and currently serves on a number of local boards, including the boards of Covenant House Alaska and the Resource Development Council. Mr. Schutt is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of Alaska Anchorage, College of Business and Public Policy.

Mr. Schutt is of Koyukon Athabascan descent and was raised in the rural Interior Alaska community of Tok. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in mathematics from Washington State University and a Juris Doctor degree from Stanford Law School. He is a certified youth hockey coach with USA Hockey, where he volunteers his time developing youth hockey players with the South Anchorage Hockey Association of Anchorage.
