Chief Client Officer, BlueVoyant
Milan Patel is Chief Client Officer and Co-founding member of BlueVoyant. Milan is responsible for the sales organization and the principal executive responsible for driving a customer focused delivery of services. Previously Milan was the COO of the Managed Services business. In this role, Milan led the creation of the MSS business to include building security operations, product management, and engineering functions from the ground up.
Milan came to BlueVoyant from his role as managing director in the Cyber Defense practice at K2 Intelligence, where he helped lead advisory services and incident response operations. Before K2 Intelligence, Milan was the CTO of the FBI Cyber Division in charge of technology strategy for interagency information sharing and field operations.
At CTO, Milan organized and co-led the Joint Requirements Team, facilitated by the White House National Security Council—Cyber Security Directorate, a team charged with creating inter-agency business and technology requirements to address President Obama’s Executive Order 13636, “Improving Critical Infrastructure Cyber Security.” This led to the development of the first national cyber incident severity scheme approved by the White House and senior leadership within the United States intelligence and federal law enforcement communities. The scheme outlines how and when the United States government will respond and coordinate during cyber incidents within the United States.
Prior to that, Milan was one of the FBI’s most senior cyber agents in the FBI. Milan led numerous high-profile, global cyber investigations including Silk Road dark web market, Anonymous and Operation Ghost Click, one of the largest botnet takedowns in history. In 2011 and 2012, Milan led investigations that were named a top 10 investigation within the FBI. In addition to cyber-crimes, Milan also investigated traditional crimes, to include bank fraud, money laundering, intellectual property rights violations, and violent crimes. Milan served as a member of the FBI’s counterterrorism efforts overseas as a senior interrogator supporting Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) operations. He was also an tactical operator on the FBI’s elite Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team.
Milan was the recipient of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for Outstanding Cyber Investigation and the Intelligence Integration Unit Citation from the Directorate of National Intelligence.
