Biography
Karen Dyson culminated her military career as a 3-star General, Military Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Financial Management & Comptroller), the most senior military officer responsible for budget and financial management. Karen is currently a director on the boards of Genworth Financial, USAA Federal Savings Bank, CALIBRE Systems, and the Army Emergency Relief Organization.
During her career Karen experienced many crisis situations. She was the Chief of Staff & Comptroller for the White House Military Office and was at the White House on 9-11. As a commander she led soldiers across Europe and Southwest Asia during times of war and peace where her responsibilities included contract payments through various levels of escalated conflict and cash operations across a spectrum that included acquisition, security, storage, distribution, payments, and accountability.
Besides the White House, Karen’s staff experience includes financial and budget operations at the U.S. Army Headquarters, Pentagon where she led reviews and acquired funding for resourcing worldwide Army operations. She led analysis that created senior leader optionality during disruptive budget reductions imposed in Continuing Resolutions or late Appropriation Act.
Karen’s board work encompasses the spectrum of public, private, employee-owned companies, and a national nonprofit.
