Biography
Michael Embler is a private investor who currently serves on the boards of directors of American Airlines (since 2013), Ventas (since 2022) and NMI Holdings (since 2012). He previously has served on the boards of Taubman Companies, CIT Group, Dynegy, Abovenet, Kindred Healthcare, and Grand Union. Embler previously served as Chief Investment Officer for Franklin Templeton’s Mutual Series family of mutual funds. Before that he served in various investment positions at Mutual and, before that, at Nomura Securities. He has earned certificates in environmental conservation and sustainability from the Earth Institute at Columbia University and in cybersecurity oversight through the NACD. He has served on a number of nonprofit boards over the years. Interests include endurance sports, the history of the environmental conservation movement, motorsports, backpacking, and adventure travel. He resides principally in New York City.
