Biography

Jennifer is a partner at Cleary Gottlieb in the Bay Area office, focusing on white-collar defense, enforcement actions, crisis management, and complex disputes.

Jen has handled some of the most complex and high-profile matters in recent years, including  the world’s largest bank in the LIBOR and FX matters, owners of the dam that caused the largest environmental disaster in Brazilian history, a storied venture fund in the FTX collapse, Bosch—manufacturer of the diesel engines at the heart of the emissions scandal, and HSBC, which received the comparatively lowest penalty in the SEC and CFTC “off-channel” investigations.

Jen’s matters are covered by some of the largest media outlets globally. Her public work has been universally lauded, including an investigation into allegations of toxic workplace culture at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), which drew from accounts of more than 600 people with a published report, including testimonies before the FDIC board and Congress, that was praised as “thorough,” “balanced,” “focused,” and “nonpartisan.” Jen also led the investigation of now-former Governor Cuomo, which included a report that was described as “groundbreaking” and “a blueprint for how” investigations should be conducted.

Jen’s clients are a who’s who of California and west coast headquartered companies including Amazon, Sequoia, Emerson Collective and Broadcom. She has a global client-base and an extensive history representing clients in California federal and state courts. She has nearly unparalleled global experience having appeared before government authorities in over 30 countries.

In her matters, Jen routinely advises and reports to boards. She is the lead author of Cleary Gottlieb’s Global Crisis Management Handbook, which provides advice and insight into how global organizations can navigate and overcome crises.

Jen has been globally and nationally recognized by Chambers and Benchmark Litigation and was quoted by clients as “an incredibly talented lawyer” whose “skills and analysis are crucial to the overall strategy of case.” Jen was named to the “World’s Top 100 Women in Investigations” list by Global Investigations Review and also the recipient of NOW’s “Women of Power & Influence Award”.

Jen maintains an active pro bono practice including filing amicus briefs on behalf of important reproductive rights organization in the Supreme Court and state appellate courts. In 2024, she joined the Board of George Mark Children’s House, the nation’s first freestanding pediatric palliative center.
