Biography
John Donahoe was appointed the Jaquish & Kenninger Director of Athletics at Stanford University on July 31, 2025, by President Jon Levin. A seasoned executive with decades of leadership experience across global organizations, Donahoe brings a distinguished record of guiding complex institutions through innovation, growth, and transformation.
From 2020 to 2024, Donahoe served as President and CEO of NIKE, Inc., having previously joined the company’s board of directors in 2013. Before Nike, he led ServiceNow as CEO from 2017 to 2020, helping accelerate the company’s expansion as a global enterprise software leader. He also served as CEO of eBay from 2008 to 2015 and later chaired the board of PayPal from 2015 to 2024.
Earlier in his career, Donahoe spent nearly two decades at Bain & Company, where he rose to become the firm’s CEO and Worldwide Managing Director (1999–2005), following roles as partner, manager, and consultant.
His board service includes previous roles with Intel (2009–2016) and Bridgespan (2018–2024). He currently serves on the boards of Aurora Innovation, a leader in autonomous freight technology, and the 1803 Fund, an initiative dedicated to transforming Black Portland through community investment and opportunity creation.
