Biography
Julia Denman is the Chief Risk and Audit Officer at Microsoft. She is also a member of The Clorox Company Board of Directors, where she sits on the Audit Committee. At Microsoft, Julia identifies risks and evaluates management’s mitigation efforts. The Board of Directors and company leadership rely on her to ensure that the company is responsibly identifying and managing risks. Her team conducts independent assessments of business processes, oversees risk management and compliance, and investigates potential misconduct. To maintain independence, Julia reports directly to the Audit Committee of the Board.
Julia brings over 30 years of experience as a global CFO and finance executive at Microsoft and previously at Procter & Gamble. She has a proven track record in driving growth and managing costs in global markets. Throughout her career, she has developed and executed transformation strategies that have resulted in billion-dollar outcomes. Her areas of expertise include corporate finance, strategic transactions, cash and capital management, internal controls, and risk management.
Julia has led teams in both developed and emerging markets, gaining a comprehensive global perspective from living and working in England, France, Belgium, Turkey, Germany, Switzerland, and North America. She is recognized for her passionate and decisive leadership style, fostering diverse, inclusive, and highly engaged teams.
Before her current role, Julia served as the Corporate Vice President & CFO of Microsoft’s Global Marketing and Consumer Business. Prior to joining Microsoft, Julia spent 20 years at Procter & Gamble, the world’s largest multinational consumer goods company.
Julia holds a BA and MA in Economics from Cambridge University and is a Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA). Originally from London, England, she has experienced diverse cultures during her upbringing, having lived in Belgium and the United States. Currently residing in Fall City, Washington, she is the single parent to three teenage boys. Julia enjoys traveling with her sons whenever they can be persuaded to take a break from their gaming.
