Alice Armitage

Professor & Director of Applied Innovation, University of California Hastings

Professor Alice Armitage is a Professor and the Director of Law & Technology at UC Hastings. In that role she supervises two innovative programs, the Startup Legal Garage and LexLab, which has created a curriculum in law and technology for students, an accelerator program for legal tech entrepreneurs, and a series of events for the legal tech community in San Francisco. She teaches classes on entrepreneurship and the use of design thinking in for-profit as well as access to justice contexts. Her research and published articles focus on the intersection of innovation and regulation.

Professor Armitage is a graduate of the Yale Law School where she was the first woman Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Law Journal. She also has an A.B. and an M.A. in British and American Literature from Brown University.
