Nicole Hemmer

Biography

Nicole Hemmer is associate professor of history and director of the Carolyn T. and Robert M. Rogers Center for the American Presidency at Vanderbilt University. She is the author of Messengers of the Right: Conservative Media and the Transformation of American Politics (2016) and Partisans: The Conservative Revolutionaries Who Remade American Politics in the 1990s (2022). Her current book project, Impunity, will be published by Basic Books. She co-founded and edited Made by History, the historical analysis section at the Washington Post, and has been a columnist at a number of national and international outlets. She is co-host of This Day, a history podcast from Radiotopia, and hosted and produced A12: The Story of Charlottesville.
